If you see a post or hear somebody from an oppressed or exploited group expressing anger at their oppressor or exploiter class that’s maybe not very nice or specific in who its angry at, maybe its hyperbolic or includes you in a way you may not think is fair, maybe its not explicitly elaborating every exact and nuanced political position this person has, the correct response to that is to think “ok” and move on with your day. Somebody saying “I hope every white person explodes” or “I hope the entire continent of North America north of the Rio Grande and the Gadsden Purchase gets launched into the sun by big rocket ships” is not actually an attack on you. You are safe. I mean this sincerely: cope. It’s fine. Its pretty normal to think “yeowch! I would not like to explode or be fired into the sun I think”, thats okay, just keep that to yourself! If you won’t at the very least admit “vote blue no matter who” leading to people like Joe Manchin having so much power within the Democrat party was a mistake that has stopped them from passing bills, you aren’t serious about making progress. You’re just a cultist, no different from MAGA, trying to silence even legitimate criticism.
And these problems didn’t start with Biden. Democrats did nothing to secure voting rights after Bush v Gore stole the election or the voting rights act was gutted. Democrats ignored calls to secure abortion rights for decades. Biden fucked over the student loan system as a senator and people have pushed to fix it for years (and he could forgive debt with an executive order any time but chooses not to). People have been asking Democrats to raise the minimum wage so long $15 now isn’t even enough to live on most places.
People making excuses for Democrats being completely useless when everyone can see how much Republicans get done without 60 votes doesn’t make people want to vote Democrat, it makes you seem like a smug, clueless piece of shit who doesn’t understand politics or real life.
It only takes 50 votes to get rid of the filibuster. So yeah, when Democrats fail to keep their promises I blame them.
But the Democrats won’t do that because that kind of obstruction is useful for them. It gives them an excuse to do nothing and also a tool for them to use when they’re in the minority.
Otherwise they’d have to start getting things done, or else start explaining the real reasons they’re not.
